How Core Values Shape the Future of Work

Group of People Watching on Laptop

As the world of work continues to evolve, especially with the rise of remote work, more and more professionals are rethinking their core values in business. One story that particularly resonated with me was from a physician in California, who shared her struggles with the shift to remote patient meetings during the pandemic. She explained that much of her ability to connect with patients came from reading their body language in person. But now, she’s dealing with the frustrations of patients over virtual appointments, leaving her emotionally drained.

This is just one example of how the new world of work is affecting professionals globally. The question is, amidst these changes, what core values hold us together and can help shape a future of meaningful and impactful work?

Focus on Core Values

At Tracking Wonder, we’ve spent the last decade building a global community of business artists—creatives, entrepreneurs, and professionals who value innovation, integrity, and collaboration. Recently, I reached out to our Facebook Quest community to ask what core values they believe bind us. The responses were clear and powerful, centered around four key themes:

  1. Openness to new experiences and perspectives.
  2. A strong Collaborative Spirit that prioritizes community over individual ego.
  3. Integrity in showing up authentically, with kindness and compassion.
  4. A commitment to Purposeful Work and innovation that drives meaningful change.

These values have been at the heart of our mission from the beginning. They resonate with what I believed held us together five years ago, but now they’re even more relevant as we navigate the complexities of the new work landscape.

The New World of Work

The world of work has changed dramatically in recent years. More professionals are working from home, and there’s an increasing desire for work that aligns with personal values and purpose. Freelancers, remote workers, and entrepreneurs are growing in numbers, seeking creative endeavors that bring fulfillment beyond the paycheck.

With this shift comes both challenges and opportunities. The remote nature of work can create distance, but it also offers space for reflection. As more people seek work that integrates their personal values, the demand for businesses and leaders who operate with integrity and vision is on the rise.

This is where the core values of collaboration, creativity, and integrity come into play. They provide a foundation for navigating the complexities of modern work, guiding professionals toward not only success but fulfillment.

Taking Stock of What Matters

As I reflect on the past ten years of Tracking Wonder, I’ve been taking stock of what holds us together as a community. We launched with a mission to redefine business, to do things differently than the traditional 20th-century model. And as I look at the feedback from our community, it’s clear we’ve succeeded in cultivating a space for mission-driven professionals who value collaboration, openness, and purposeful innovation.

Shaping the Future with Core Values

The future of work is still unfolding, but one thing is clear: core values like collaboration, integrity, and creativity are more important than ever. If you’re a part of a community or business, now is the time to take stock of what matters most to you. What values connect you to your work? How can you ensure those values guide your path forward?

At Tracking Wonder, we’re committed to creating a future of work where meaning and impact go hand-in-hand. Join us in reflecting on what bonds us, and let’s continue to shape this new world of work together.
